Department Vision
The Mechanical Engineering Department strives to be recognized as an excellent education and research centre for socio-economic upliftment of society to develop innovative engineers who are successful in advanced fields of engineering.
Department Mission
a. Quality education to be provided to the students along with enhancement of their skills to make them globally competitive mechanical engineers.
b. Development of linkages with top R&D organizations and educational institutions in India and abroad for excellence in teaching, research and consultancy practices.
c. Strengthening Continuing Education with special focus on training and skills up gradation of teaching and technical manpower of the region.
d. Enhancement of Industrial Consultancy and Testing.
e. Enhancement of research activities through AICTE/DST/UGC sponsored research projects.
f. Dedicated efforts to be made for enhancing employability of students.
g. Introduction of new UG and PG programs in emerging fields of engineering.
Program Education Objectives (PEOs) B.Tech. (Mechanical Engineering)
1. To prepare students for successful careers in Indian and multinational industries/companies engaged in thermal systems, manufacturing processes, machine design and the related fields.
2. To develop the ability among students to understand and synthesize data/information and technical concepts for application to product/system/process design.
3. To prepare students to be able to work as part of teams on multidisciplinary projects involving professional ethics and codes of professional practice.
4. To develop the ability among the students for taking research/teaching assignments.
Program Outcomes (POs) B. Tech. Mechanical Engineering
After completion of B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering;
a. Graduates will be able to use the basic knowledge of mathematics and science in engineering and technological applications.
b. Graduates will be able to identify, formulate and solve mechanical engineering problems.
c. Graduates will be able to design and conduct experiments, interpret and analyze data, and report results.
d. Graduates will be able to conceptualize and design the mechanical systems or processes that meet desired specifications and requirements.
e. Graduates will be able to function/participate as a member of the teams engaged in Engineering/Technology laboratories, as well as in multidisciplinary design teams in latest technologies.
f. Graduates will be able to serve the society with professional ethics.
g. Graduates will be capable of self-learning and development.
h. Graduates will have an understanding of the impact of engineering on society and demonstrate awareness of contemporary issues.
i. Graduates will be able to use modern engineering software tools and equipments to solve mechanical engineering problems.
j. Graduates will have the confidence to optimize available engineering resources.
k. Graduates will be able to deliver the engineering fundamentals in effective and innovative ways.
l. Graduates will be able to offer safe, efficient and relevant solutions to industry and society in the area product design,manufacturing and thermal systems.
Program Education Objectives (PEOs) M.Tech. (Industrial Engineering)
1. To prepare students for successful careers in teaching as per the need of Indian and multination education systems.
2. To develop the strong technical skills in the students for taking research assignments.
Program Outcomes (POs) M. Tech. (Industrial Engineering)
After completion of M.Tech. in Industrial Engineering the student have;
a. An ability to apply knowledge of production and Industrial engineering concepts in teaching/research activities.
b. An ability to analyze complex engineering problems critically, apply independent judgment for synthesizing information to intellectual and/or creative advances for conducting research in a wider theoretical, practical and policy context.
c. An ability to conceptualize and solve engineering problems, evaluate a wide range of potential solutions for those problems at feasible, optimal solutions after considering public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental factors in the expertise.
d. An ability to Extract information pertinent to unfamiliar problems through literature survey and experiments, apply appropriate research methodologies, techniques and tools, design, conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, demonstrate higher and view things in a broader perspective, contribute individually/in group(s) to the development of scientific/ technological in one or more domains of engineering.
e. An ability to Create, select, learn and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, include prediction and modelling, to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
f. An ability to possess knowledge and understanding of group dynamics, recognize opportunities and contribute positively to collaborative-multidisciplinary scientific research, demonstrate a capacity for self-management and teamwork, decision on open-mindedness, objectivity and rational analysis in order to achieve common goals and further the learning of themselves as others.
g. An ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles and apply the same to work, as a member and leader in a team, manage efficiently in respective disciplines and multidisciplinary environments after consideration of economical and financial factors.
h. An ability to communicate with the engineering community, and with society at large, regarding complex engineering actively confidently and effectively, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation by appropriate standards, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
i. An ability to recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in life-long learning independently, with level of enthusiasm and commitment to improve knowledge and competence continuously.
j. An ability to acquire professional and intellectual integrity, professional code of conduct, ethics of research and scholarship consideration of the impact of research outcomes on professional practices and an understanding of responsibility to contribute community for sustainable development of society.
k. An ability to observe and examine critically the outcomes of one’s actions and make corrective measures subsequently, and from mistakes without depending on external feedback.
l. An ability to gain the technical, managerial and working relationship qualities for the Education/Research and knowledge for the higher studies/teaching/research works.
